We almost all familiar the word ‘science’ but we actually don’t know what science is. The word science is discovered from Latin word “Scientia” meaning knowledge. Often when someone say science at the same time our mind automatically discover different pictures like white coats, telescopes, microscopes, different equations, space shuttle and much more pictures like this. These pictures reflect some aspects of science but none of them provides the complete picture of the science because in fact science has uncountable facts. Science is the mane of observing, watching, listening and recording the facts and figures about the world. Science is a very vast term to say it is not a tidy package of knowledge. It’s a world of mysteries.
The question is that how we can define the science. In Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, the description of science is “knowledge attained through practice or study” What is the knowledge? And which type of study? A proper system is required to understand and acquire knowledge of the science. This method uses different types of observations and experiments to elaborate the natural phenomena. Science is also a name of the research, a scientist begin his or her research on the basis of hypothesis.
We cannot describe the science in few words but we will try to describe a little bit history of science and some inventions of last centuries.
In the 1200s, Robert Grosseteste developed a framework using the experiments of modern science. Leonardo da Vinci finds that the human body is microcosmic in the 1400s, other artists, scientists and mathematicians also get the information about optics and hydrodynamic. Nicolaus Copernicus helped the scientists to better understand the solar system with the help of his new discovery heliocentricism in the 1500s. Benjamin Franklin discovered that lightning is electrical in the 1700s. In the 1800s, Milestone makes an electrochemical series on Volta’s theory, which helps the scientist to invent the battery. The 20th century is the century of a great scientist named “Albert Einstein” who is best known for his theory of relative motion. Scientists enable to saw the complete draft of the human genome in the 21st century, which leading to understanding the human DNA.
In every field of life, science has helped the human to make their lives better than it ever has been. Electricity is the biggest example of science; electricity is the only thing that changes the human lives forever. Nowadays we can see that everything includes our daily base use things are deprived of electricity. In simple words we can say that science is a basic part of our lives without new inventions of science we cannot survive only a single day of our life because we are extremely addicted to technology, it is a bitter truth and we cannot deny this fact.
